Regulatory Event for Health and Social Care Professions

Jointly run with the UK-wide health and social care regulators, the regulatory event for health and social care professions has been successfully running since 2008. It now takes place bi-annually, with the 2024 event taking place at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow city centre on 6 November.

This event is the only in-person conference for professional healthcare regulators in the UK. The latest event brought together around 300 key stakeholders representing regulators, the Scottish Government, NHS Scotland, social care providers, Higher Education Institutions and health and social care professionals from around the UK.

The day begins with a welcome address from the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, followed by a keynote speech from a guest. The 2024 key note speech was given by Lady Helena Kennedy LT KC.

The event’s agenda includes a series of parallel discussion sessions run by the healthcare regulators, the Scottish Government, the Professional Standards Authority and the Department of Health and Social Care, the Scottish Social Services Council and invited subject matter experts. These sessions cover a wide range of topics, such as upstream regulation, the role of patients/the public in shaping regulation, how regulation responds to workforce challenges, and continuing professional development.

The day concludes with three simultaneous panel discussion sessions with the chief executives of the UK health and social care regulators.
