2022 Professional Health and Social Care Regulatory Event

On 24 October 2022, the 12th Annual Professional Health and Social Care Regulatory Event took place in Edinburgh at the EICC.  This is the only conference of its type in the UK, and it was the first time gathering since before the pandemic.  Our theme for the day was “Looking to the Future.”

A full programme for the day can be found here

The event was chaired by Neil Stevenson (Chief Exec., Scottish Legal Complaints Commission), who hosted our opening address speaker, Cabinet Secretary Humza Yousaf.  Mr. Yousaf highlighted how the pandemic accelerated the modernisation of professional regulation ahead of legislative reform.  He spoke on the importance of high quality date for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.  Mr. Yousaf also promoted engagement with the National Care Service.  His address included a question and answer time, which attendees found very personable and informative.

Following Mr. Yousaf, Professor Steven Yule and Dr. Emma Howie from the University of Edinburgh Sabermetrics Group led our plenary session which focused on the future of intelligent safety.  The topic prompted several rich dialogues among conference participants.

From there, with several panel sessions and workshops to choose from, the day was full of opportunities to look to the future together through inspiring presentations and conversations.  Conference participants had ample opportunity to network with regulators and stakeholders in the exhibition hall between sessions.

Overall, the event had a very positive and encouraging atmosphere with many people feeling the day was truly a success!

Planning for the next Health and Social Care Regulatory Event is underway, and details will be posted here as they become available.
